Creating Conversations is March 9
The Seven Hills Counseling Department is hosting a screening of the documentary “Like” as part of the Creating Conversations Speaker Series. “Like” is a documentary about the impact of social media on our lives. It is the second installment of the award-winning Indieflix Mental Health Trilogy. Before COVID, smartphone users were checking their phones on average 150 times a day. Research continues to confirm that too much social media usage is the perfect recipe for low self-esteem, isolation, and depression, as well as loss of focus and patience. Join Seven Hills for a special screening of this important documentary on Thursday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in The Schiff Center. Click here to register.
The Bees Are Coming!
The Bees are Coming!
Our annual week-long community giving event Stinger Madness will be all the buzz March 6 through 10. And we need you to help fill the hills! For every contribution you make to the Annual Fund — no matter the size — we’ll place a Stinger Bee on the hill of the campus your oldest child attends. It’s a fun way to show your school spirit and support our community. If you’ve already made your gift this school year, thank you! Your bee is headed to the hill. But the excitement doesn’t stop there! Each division — the Lower Schools, Middle School, and Upper School — will compete to reach the highest percentage of family participation in the Annual Fund to add to the fun. Don’t miss out on the fun — make your gift before 3:15 p.m. on Friday, March 10 and help us #FillTheHills! Visit www.7hills.org/StingerMadness to learn more and make your gift.
Upper and Middle School students learn about Chicago Stepping
Upper and Middle School students learned about Chicago Stepping from dancers Elana Elmore and Eugene Jackson on Feb. 28. Students heard about the dance’s history as Elmore explained the logistics of how and why dances evolve over the years. “Some dances transitioned away from circular, revolving movements and into line formations to fit more people on the dance floor at a time,” Elmore said. Chicago Stepping is an improvisational form of partner dancing with its roots in dance styles like the Chicago Bop, the Lindy Hop and Western Swing. Sophomore Roman Russo introduced the dancers at the Upper School all-school meeting and moderated questions from his classmates. Elmore also expounded on the practice and technique it takes to create a spontaneous routine and students were able to try their hand at a couple of dance moves after a lesson from the talented performers.
