Plaster Carving in Upper School Art
Students in Daniel Vance’s Upper School art class are exploring form through subtractive techniques. Noticing that students were interested in working with a new medium, Vance introduced the new lesson, which allows students to shape, cut, and sculpt plaster. “This lesson centers around casting plaster and carving away the resulting positive form,” said Vance. “The students are safely using a number of tools, including rasps, putty knives, hammers, and chisels.”
