Student-led Effort Brings Bengals Financial Officers to Campus

Bengals Chief Financial Officer John Helmle and Financial Analyst Amun Tanveer spoke to students about working in the financial side of sports as guests of the Upper School’s sports business club, ran by junior Calvin Armstrong and sophomore Gabe Herman. Helmle and Tanveer shared advice for students hoping to one day work in sports.

Helmle stressed the importance of networking and utilizing internships.

“You never know where your opportunities are going to be. But, if you really want to do it, you are going to find a way,” Helmle said.

Tanveer, who always wanted to work in sports and saw finance as a way to break into the industry, advised students to think about the various types of careers in the sports world.

“I always had a passion for sports, and for me it was just about creating the best opportunity to get there,” Tanveer said.
